Celebrating Heritage and Emerging Talent Through a Unique Art Collaboration
La Tour FIDES proudly announces a special partnership with Concordia University Faculty of Fine Arts to create an artwork Competition in a collaboration to merge history, creativity, and art within the heart of Montreal.
This initiative invites students and recent alumni from Concordia Fine Arts programs to design a prototype for a permanent artwork that will be installed in the lobby of the newly renovated Tour FIDES.
Honouring the Legacy of Éditions Fides
Originally built in 1964, La Tour FIDES tower is a landmark of modernist architecture and was once home to Éditions Fides, a publishing house that shaped Quebec’s cultural and literary landscape. Today, as La Tour FIDES enters a new chapter as a residential tower, MTL Development is committed to preserving and celebrating its rich history.
Through this collaboration, we aim to connect the building’s cultural legacy with its contemporary transformation: a tribute to its past, and an invitation to imagine its future.
Inspiring Future Generation Through Art
Finalists will be selected by a jury and awarded a budget to bring their ideas to life as small-scale prototypes. A grand prize will be awarded to the winning piece which will be chosen for a full-scale production and become a permanent fixture in the building’s lobby; a space where heritage meets modern living.
This goes beyond competition; it’s an opportunity to support the next generation of Montreal artists, and to weave their vision into the daily journeys of La Tour Fides residents and visitors. This is a reflection of MTL Development vision to build the community where it operates
Art at the Heart of the Quartier des Spectacles
Situated at 235 boulevard René-Lévesque Est, in the vibrant Quartier des Spectacles, La Tour FIDES is ideally positioned to contribute to Montreal’s thriving artistic and cultural scene. The selected public artwork will become a symbol of that connection, bridging the creative energy of the neighborhood with the architectural soul of the building.
